CON FORMS INTRODUCES REUSABLE LAY FLAT HOSE BODY TO REDUCE DOWNTIME & EXTEND HOSE LIFE

PORT WASHINGTON, WI — Con Forms has introduced a new Reusable Lay Flat Hose Body, a high‑pressure hose coupling system designed to solve one of the most persistent challenges in concrete pumping: premature wear and costly hose replacement at the inlet end.

Traditional lay flat hoses are removed from service due to excessive wear in the first 24 inches—often caused by crimped ferrules that accelerate jacket fatigue and increase the risk of separation. Con Forms’ new reusable coupling system replaces single‑use crimped ends with a bolt‑on, four‑piece wedge design, allowing contractors to reuse hose assemblies instead of discarding them.

The system is engineered to deliver secure, leak‑free performance without pinching the hose jacket, while giving operators the ability to recouple hoses in the field using simple hand tools. Worn inlet sections can be cut out and replaced, extending overall hose life and reducing the need for full hose replacement.

“Wear at the inlet side of a lay flat hose can be up to 25% greater than the rest of the hose,” said Con Forms’ Vice President of Research and Development, John Schantz. “This design directly addresses that issue while maintaining safety, pressure performance, and compliance.”
Customer Benefits
  • Reduced downtime: Pro-active shop repairs and field recoupling can eliminate delays caused by waiting for replacement hoses on the job site.
  • Lower operating costs: Reusing hose bodies and replacing only worn sections minimizes replacement spend.
  • Extended hose life: The design allows contractors to discard only overly worn sections instead of entire hoses.
  • Improved safety: A built‑in gap indicator clearly shows when a hose is too worn to be recoupled.
  • Sustainable solution: Fewer discarded hoses mean less waste and more efficient material use.

Key Features
  • Four‑piece wedge design that is bolted—not crimped—onto the hose
  • Recoupling can be completed with standard hand tools (torque wrench required)
  • Gap indicator prevents reuse of unsafe or excessively worn hose sections
  • CPMA‑certified only when used with Con Forms’ Lay Flat hose.

Designed specifically for concrete pumping applications, the Reusable Lay Flat Hose Body offers a smarter, repairable alternative to single‑use hose assemblies—helping contractors keep operations moving while controlling costs.
